How can we help?
StudioHand is built by working engineers — bug reports and feature requests genuinely shape each release, so don’t be shy.
We usually reply within 1–2 business days. Include your device (Mac / iPhone / iPad), OS version, and the steps that led to the problem.
Getting started
- Create a session — tap/click New Session, enter the client and project, and set your technical details (sample rate, bit depth, DAW, room).
- Add songs, then open a song to log takes, cues, lyrics, and the track sheet.
- Run the timer while you work — it tracks billable time and survives a force-quit.
- Export a PDF report of the session (cue sheets, track manifest, time log) from the session’s menu.
- Load the sample session from the onboarding screen any time to explore.
Frequently asked questions
Is my data private?
Yes. StudioHand is local-first: your sessions, songs, takes, photos, and notes are stored on your device. There’s no account, no sign-up, and we don’t collect your data. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Does it work offline?
Completely. No internet connection is required to use the app.
Does it sync across my Mac, iPhone, and iPad?
Not automatically in this version. To move your work between devices, use Export Full Backup (a single file) on one device and Import Backup on another (both in Settings). Cross-device iCloud sync is planned for a future update.
How do I back up or move my data?
Settings → export a full JSON backup, or export individual session reports (PDF) or sessions/time logs (CSV). Import a backup from Settings on any device. Deleting the app removes its local data, so back up first if you’re reinstalling.
What’s free, and what do Pro and Studio add?
- Free — run up to 3 active sessions (5 songs each, 15 takes/song, 10 cues/song, 5 tracks/song, 3 session photos), with the session timer and PDF reports. Archive finished sessions to free up slots — archived work stays viewable. Free forever, no time limit.
- StudioHand Pro ($9.99/month or $79.99/year) — unlimited sessions, songs, takes, and tracks, plus gear inventory, patchbay, photos, tags, templates, universal search, chord charts, arrangements, recall sheets, comp builder, rough-mix playback, break tracking, split sheets and credits, and watermark-free PDFs. 1-month free trial.
- StudioHand Studio ($29.99/month or $249.99/year) — everything in Pro with all limits removed, plus invoicing, room booking with Apple Calendar sync, an analytics dashboard, mileage, deliverables, backup logging, file management, and logo-branded reports.
I hit a limit — what now?
On Free, you can archive a completed session to free up an active-session slot, or upgrade to Pro for unlimited work. Limits never interrupt a session in progress.
How do I start a free trial, upgrade, or change tiers?
Open the upgrade screen from any locked feature (or Settings). The 1-month Pro trial requires no commitment; you can switch between Pro and Studio at any time.
How do I restore a purchase on a new device?
On the upgrade screen, tap Restore Purchases (sign in with the same Apple ID you purchased with).
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID:
- iPhone/iPad: Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions.
- Mac: App Store → your account → Manage Subscriptions.
Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid the next charge.
Why does the app ask for camera, photos, microphone, or calendar access?
Only for the related feature, and only when you use it: camera/photos attach reference images to sessions; microphone records short voice notes on takes; calendar mirrors room bookings into Apple Calendar. All of this stays on your device. You can manage these in your device’s Settings → Privacy & Security.
Can I bring in a Pro Tools session?
Yes — StudioHand imports a Pro Tools session text export to pull in your track layout. (Live PTSL/gRPC integration is on the roadmap.)
System requirements
